Config spec

A configuratoin specification - or just short: A "config spec" is the set of rules that are attache to a ClearCAse view and which in turn decides which versions on  which branches are displayed in the view.

Essentially each line in the config spec is a seperate rule, and each rule picks exactly one or none version of the element to display.

ClearCase can be regarded as a multi version file system - or a multi dimensional file system and the view's config specs are essentially the technology that forces views to behave like regular 2-dimensional file systems that applications, IDEs, editors  compiles ect knows how to handle (business as usual).
